Dr. Gabor Maté created Compassionate Inquiry ® psychotherapy to help individuals and therapists uncover the subconscious mental states and physical conditions that shape our thoughts and behaviour. The therapy helps clients recognize the unconscious stories that control their lives and guides them towards letting go of these stories and the hold they have on them. The approach aims to help individuals connect with the truth within themselves, gain insight, clarity, and choice in their behaviour, and become free from self-generated suffering.
Somatic counselling is a form of therapy that emphasizes the connection between the mind and the body. It is based on the idea that emotional and psychological issues can be reflected in the body, and that physical sensations and movements can be used to access and process emotions and memories.
In somatic counselling, the therapist works with the client to identify physical sensations, movements, and postures that are associated with their emotional experiences. Through a combination of talk therapy and body-focused techniques, the therapist helps the client to explore and work through these physical sensations in order to release blocked emotions, relieve physical tension, and improve overall wellbeing.
At alchemy 528 some common techniques used in our sessions include mindfulness, breathwork, body awareness exercises, and gentle physical movements through Sensorimotor Guided Drawing®. The goal of somatic counselling is to help clients develop greater awareness and acceptance of their bodily experiences, and to use this awareness to promote healing, growth, and transformation.

Trauma can have a significant long-lasting effect on the synapses in the brain, which are the connections between neurons. Traumatic events activate the brain’s stress response system, which releases stress hormones that can impact the structure and function of synapses in several ways.
Trauma can cause dendritic branches to become thinner and less complex, impair neuroplasticity, cause inflammation, and respond to stress. The adverse effects of these impairments on an individual’s cognitive and brain functioning could be a contributing factor to the limited efficacy of talk therapy alone.
However, the brain can heal and recover from effects of trauma with the right interventions and support.
alchemy 528 combines therapies that work on many aspects of the mind and body to bring about profound change.

alchemy 528 understand the importance of affordability when it comes to counselling fees, which is why I have set my prices to be competitive and discounted from the recommended fee structure for comparable services. While cost does does play a role, it should not be the only factor to consider when choosing a therapist. It is also important to consider factors such as training and experience to ensure the best possible outcome.
alchemy 528 takes pride in offering exceptional value for your money with our body-based counselling therapy sessions. While our competitors typically provide 60-minute sessions, we exceed expectations by providing 90-minute sessions that leave you feeling a greater sense of inner calm, and a deeper connection to your inner self.
